Free fertilizer and seeds distributed among farmers in Barhatta

Free seeds and fertilizers have been distributed to 1,900 farmers in Barhatta Upazila of the district. Under the Agricultural Incentive Program for the 2025-26 fiscal year, these seeds and fertilizers have been distributed free of cost among 1,900 small and marginal farmers to increase the cultivation and production of Ufshi Ropa, Aman paddy and vegetables in the Kharip-2 season. The program was inaugurated by Professor Dr. Md. Anwarul Haque, Member of Parliament for Netrokona-2 (Barhatta-Netrokona) constituency, at a program organized at the Upazila Officers Club on Saturday (July 11) afternoon.
The discussion meeting organized on this occasion was chaired by Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Selina Akhter, and Upazila Agriculture Officer Krishibid Sharmin Sultana, District Krishak Dal President Salah Uddin Milki, Upazila BNP President Mostaq Ahmed, General Secretary Ashiq Ahmed Kamal, Senior Vice President Akkas Ali, Member Freedom Fighter Rahmat Ali Talukder, Member Manik Azad and Barhatta Press Club General Secretary Azizul Haque Faruk spoke. Leaders of BNP and its associate organizations, dignitaries and beneficiary farmers were present at the event.
In his speech, the chief guest said that in the past, there were various irregularities in the distribution of agricultural incentive seeds and fertilizers. This time, government assistance has been delivered to the hands of genuine farmers. The government’s initiatives for the development of farmers will continue in the future.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Krishibid Sharmin Sultana said that in the current season, 5 kg of Ufshi Aman paddy seeds and 20 kg of various types of fertilizers are being given free of cost to each farmer. In addition, officials from the Agriculture Department will provide necessary advice and technical assistance throughout the cultivation period.
