Exchange of views on modernization of modern slaughterhouse and zoo in Rajshahi

A meeting was held with stakeholders on the construction of modern slaughterhouse and modernization of Central Park and Zoo in Rajshahi metropolis. Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, MP, State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock, was present as the chief guest in this important exchange of views meeting at the City Hall of Nagar Bhaban on Monday (July 13) afternoon. The program was presided over by Mr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation.
Speaking as the chief guest at the exchange of views meeting, the State Minister said, I welcome the initiative of Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton to construct a meat processing center in Rajshahi and modernize the zoo. I will provide all-round support for the overall development of Rajshahi, including the implementation of the two works. He further said that an initiative has been taken to establish a modern meat processing center in Rajshahi to ensure safe meat.
This modern center will have health checks before slaughtering animals, halal slaughter, quality control through modern labs, and waste management. Apart from ensuring safe meat supply, butchers and meat traders will also benefit from this. No part of the animal will be wasted and will be used for export, organic fertilizer, and biogas production through research.
He further said that the Rajshahi Zoo needs to be modernized as per the long-standing demand of the people of Rajshahi. I have already informed the Prime Minister about this. She has agreed to the modern zoo. The State Minister said that Rajshahi is a prosperous district in all aspects, including mango, silk, agriculture, fish production, cleanliness, and tourism potential.
There is an opportunity to earn foreign exchange by increasing the export of Rajshahi’s mangoes through modern preservation and processing. The government will continue to provide maximum cooperation to take Rajshahi forward. He said that the government is implementing various development programs for the welfare of the people. The government will work to implement every initiative necessary for the development of Rajshahi and with the cooperation of the people, the development of Rajshahi will be made more dynamic.
In the president’s speech, RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton said that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has given me the opportunity to serve the city’s residents. I am working to ensure development and citizen services in line with the Prime Minister’s directives. The RCC Administrator said that after taking charge, I have taken initiatives to modernize the zoo and bring in animals.
In this context, I contacted the State Minister for Fisheries and Animal Resources. He assured me of overall cooperation. In that context, I have come to visit today. With the cooperation of everyone, I want to make Rajshahi a beautiful, healthy and modern city.
RCC Chief Executive Officer Md. Rezaul Karim delivered a welcome speech at the event. The meeting was addressed by Advocate Syed Shahin Shawkat, Rajshahi Divisional Organizing Secretary of the BNP Central Committee, Dr. Md. Boyzar Rahman, Director (Administration) of the Livestock Department, Dr. Anand Kumar Adhikari, Director of the Rajshahi Divisional Livestock Department, Mohinul Hasan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) of Rajshahi, Gaziur Rahman, Councilor-in-Charge of the RCC and Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, Ahsan Ahmed, Councilor-in-Charge of the Rajshahi Roads and Highways Department, Superintending Engineer of the Rajshahi Meat Traders Association, and President of the Rajshahi Meat Traders Association.
