While cows of various sizes and breeds go viral every year during Qurbani (Eid al-Adha), this time a specific breed of buffalo has stolen the spotlight.

Its fame has transcended national borders, gaining international attention. However, it is precisely because of this fame that the buffalo named ‘Donald Trump’ has been saved from being sacrificed.

The widely discussed Albino buffalo named ‘Donald Trump’, which was sold for the upcoming Eid al-Adha sacrifice, is returning to its farm in Narayanganj following the intervention of Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed.

On Wednesday (May 27), Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed shared this information with the private television channel Jamuna Television.

He stated that due to fears of public chaos, the buyer from Keraniganj was refunded, and the buffalo was returned to the farm. For the time being, it will be raised and cared for there.

Earlier, because this Albino buffalo’s hair and eyes closely resembled Donald Trump’s, the younger brother of Ziauddin Mridha—the owner of Rabeya Agro Farm in Narayanganj city’s Paikpara—affectionately named it ‘Trump’.

Due to its unusual name, the rare Albino buffalo went viral within moments. However, before it went viral, Samir, a buyer from the capital’s Jinjira area, had already purchased the 700 kg ‘Donald Trump’ at a rate of 550 BDT per kilogram.

Following that, children, teenagers, youths, and many women came to see the buffalo. People even traveled from distant districts like Barisal, Chittagong, and Comilla. At the time, many expressed disappointment at not being able to buy it.

The buffalo ‘Donald Trump’ even became a center of international attraction. This viral buffalo found a place in almost all major international media outlets, from AFP to Reuters.

However, many other cows have been given various names like ‘Kalapada’, ‘Neymar’, and ‘Sundari’. According to reports, the Home Minister did not place any restrictions on sacrificing them.
