In preparation for the upcoming Sharadiya Durga Puja 2026, Md. Asaduzzaman Gani (BVM, PVMS), Deputy Director General of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) for the Dhaka Range, inspected the Bagmara Sarbajanin Durga Mandir and the Bardhanpara Bara Bari Sarbajanin Durga Mandir, located in the Kalakopa area of Nawabganj Upazila, Dhaka District. During his visit on Sunday (October 18), he reviewed the overall security arrangements at the Puja mandaps (worship venues) and instructed the deployed Ansar-VDP personnel to perform their duties with the utmost vigilance, dedication, and professionalism. He further emphasized the importance of maintaining communal harmony, promptly identifying potential risks, and remaining prepared to address any untoward incidents. Additionally, he directed the effective use of the ‘Sharadiya Suraksha App’ (Autumnal Security App) to strengthen security at the Puja mandaps and facilitate the immediate exchange of information.
He noted that technology-based surveillance and rapid response capabilities are crucial for ensuring the overall security of the Durga Puja festival. Meanwhile, leaders of the Puja celebration committees and organizers at various venues praised the responsible role played by the Ansar-VDP personnel in ensuring that the festival is celebrated in a peaceful and festive atmosphere. They spoke positively about the vigilance and professionalism demonstrated by the personnel in securing the Puja mandaps, maintaining order, and assisting visitors in moving about without hindrance.
Those present during the inspection included Md. Sajedur Rahman (BVM), Director of the Nawabganj Ansar Battalion (21 BN); Md. Rasheduzzaman (PVMS), District Commandant of Ansar-VDP for Dhaka District; and Md. Badal Mia, the Ansar Officer for Nawabganj Upazila, along with other relevant officials. It is worth noting that the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party—the country’s largest community-based discipline and security force—has consistently played a vital role in ensuring security during various religious and social events. In the context of the Sharadiya Durga Puja, the force’s personnel remain present in a responsible manner, continuing their coordinated efforts with all relevant stakeholders to ensure security.
