A rally organized by the Sirajganj district branch of the Bangladesh Deed Writers Association was held to press for a seven-point list of demands. The rally took place on Saturday (September 19) at 10:00 AM at the Sirajganj Municipal Open Stage. Presided over by Md. Abdul Momin Tara, President of the Sadar Deed Writers Association (Sirajganj District), and moderated by General Secretary Md. Habibur Rahman (Habib), the event was addressed by several leaders, including Jahurul Islam (Tarash Deed Writers Association), Matiar Rahman Lavu (Belkuchi Deed Writers Association), Jahangir Alam (Ullapara Deed Writers Association), Abdul Latif (Kamarkhand Deed Writers Association), Mostafizur Rahman (Salanga Deed Writers Association), Shamsher Ali (Kazipur Deed Writers Association), and Yusuf Ali (Shahjadpur Deed Writers Association).

The speakers asserted that deed writers must not be displaced from their profession in the name of modernizing the deed registration system. They demanded the implementation of a minimum honorarium of Tk 5,000 per deed. They called for the issuance of an official notification stating that no one other than a licensed deed writer may draft or submit deeds for registration. They also demanded a directive prohibiting the issuance of deed-writing licenses to inexperienced individuals without the recommendation of the relevant Thana, District, and Central committees.
Furthermore, the speakers demanded that seating arrangements and prayer spaces be provided for deed writers at Thana and District offices at government expense. Noting that deeds are drafted based on documents supplied by the parties involved, they argued that deed writers should not be named as accused in legal cases simply for performing their professional duties of drafting or preparing deeds. A demand was also raised at the rally for permission to form a Deed Writers’ Council.

Also present at the event were Vice-President Habil, Organizing Secretary Yusuf Ali, Joint Secretary Manorul Islam, and Executive Members Abdul Alim, Nasir Uddin, and Shamim, along with members of deed writers’ associations from nine upazilas of the district. Leaders at the rally warned that if the concerned authorities do not take prompt action to address these demands, a larger and more rigorous movement would be announced in the future.
