All development activities under the Ministry of Local Government are carried out through elected public representatives. The country and its people benefit the most when elected representatives at the Upazila, Union Parishad, and Municipality levels are honest and competent. However, due to corruption, the public is being deprived of genuine government benefits and services. Saturday morning, a day-long workshop for potential candidates nominated by Jamaat-e-Islami for the upcoming local government elections was held at the party’s district office auditorium in Jashore.  The event was presided over by District Ameer Professor Golam Rasul, MP, and organized by the Jashore district branch of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.

Speaking at the inaugural session, he noted that all development activities under the Ministry of Local Government are executed through elected public representatives. He emphasized that the nation and the people reap greater benefits when elected representatives at the Upazila, Union Parishad, and Municipality levels are honest and capable. He observed that the public is being deprived of actual benefits because many public representatives are corrupt. He stated that Jamaat would nominate honest and competent candidates for the upcoming local government elections. He asserted that if elected by the people, these candidates would not engage in corruption; instead, they would ensure that all government benefits and services reach the people’s doorsteps.

Other speakers at the event included Dr. Mosleh Uddin Farid, MP for Jashore-2; Principal Mahbubur Rahman, Naib-e-Ameer of Magura District; Principal Abu Jafar Siddiqui, District Secretary; Assistant District Secretaries Belal Hossain, Golam Quddus, Maulana Rezaul Karim, and Professor Monirul Islam; District Working Committee members Professor Shahabuddin Biswas, Professor Zainal Abedin, Professor Abul Hashim Reza, Nur-e-Ali Nur Mamun, and Maulana Abdus Samad; and Professor Abdul Hai, former Chairman of Maheshpur Upazila, among others.
