Cleanliness drive in Sreemangal, 9 establishments fined

A mobile court operation was conducted to ensure Sreemangal town in Moulvibazar remains clean and free from traffic congestion. Md. Ziaur Rahman, the Sreemangal Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) and Municipal Administrator, led the drive on Thursday afternoon. He was accompanied by Md. Jahirul Islam, the Executive Engineer of Sreemangal Municipality. During the operation, eight business establishments were fined for obstructing public movement by placing merchandise on footpaths and roads along Station Road and Habiganj Road.
Additionally, a sweet shop was fined for producing food products in an unsanitary environment. Md. Jahirul Islam, the Executive Engineer of Sreemangal Municipality, noted that Sreemangal is a significant tourist destination. Every day, tourists from across the country visit the area alongside local residents. Occupying roads or footpaths with merchandise, or producing and selling food in unsanitary conditions, is by no means acceptable.
Md. Ziaur Rahman, the Sreemangal UNO and Municipal Administrator, said, “We have launched this drive to transform Sreemangal into a clean, beautiful, and modern tourist town free from traffic congestion.” However, a permanent solution cannot be achieved through enforcement drives alone. Business owners, citizens, and all concerned parties need to become more aware and cooperate with the administration’s initiatives. Only then will it be possible to build a beautiful town. He added that such drives conducted in the public interest would continue.
