A brief report on the social service activities implemented by Needy Foundation(NF) from 2007 to 2026

NF is a non-political, non-profit voluntary social welfare organization registered by the Department of Social Services under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Its registration number is, Chatt: 2790/2007.

At present, this organization has applied for registration with the NGO Affairs Bureau of the Prime Minister’s Office, which is under process. This organization was founded on 1 January 2007 by Mr. Md. Alam Khan , a prominent social worker, the youngest son of the late Nazir Ahmed and Firoza Begum of Uttar Paruapara village, Raipur Union, Anwara Upazila, Chittagong, on the basis of a unanimous decision through a general meeting after consulting local dignitaries . The founder chairman, Mr. Md. Alam Khan, is currently serving as the chairman of the management committee of Needy Foundation.

From its inception to the present time, the Needy Foundation has built 9 (nine) Masjid and 4 (four) Madrasah in various places of Chittagong Division for the benefit of the poor, distressed, deprived and needy people of the society for free for the convenience of religious devotees to offer prayers and currently another madrasah is under construction. It has built 69 (sixty-nine) ablution facilities adjacent to the mosques for the convenience of devotees to perform ablution. It has installed more than 450 (four hundred and fifty) tube wells to provide safe drinking water to the deprived and needy families of the society.

Under the regular ongoing activities of the Needy Foundation, distributing educational materials to orphans and helpless students. Distributing emergency relief to helpless families affected by disasters and famines, including floods and fires. Distributing Eid clothes and food packs to orphans, widows, poor and helpless families on two Eids under the Zakat program. Providing medical assistance to the sick and needy. Distributing winter clothes to underprivileged families, orphans, helpless and widows in the winter. Distributing iftar and sehri items to needy fasting people, orphans and various orphanages during the holy month of Ramadan. Distributing meat of sacrificial animals to the needy, orphans and various orphanages on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. Distributing cooked food and rice to orphans and helpless people on the occasion of Eid-e-Miladunnabi (PBUH) and Ashura.

Moreover, during the outbreak of the Corona virus, emergency relief assistance was provided to the needy families deprived of the benefits of the society under the Covid-19 program of the Needy Foundation. Emergency relief assistance was provided to the displaced Rohingya refugees of Myanmar.

In all, more than 50,000 (fifty thousand) beneficiaries have benefited so far through the social development and humanitarian programs of the Needy Foundation.
