Body of a former army member was recovered from a tree branch—where it had been tied with a rope—in Mohanganj, two days after he went missing.
Mohanganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Hafizur Islam Harun stated that the body was recovered on Friday morning from the graveyard area of Birampur Uttarpara in the upazila.
The deceased, Kajol Miah (55), was the son of Joban Ali from Katiyam village in Selborosh Union, Dharmapasha Upazila, in the neighboring Sunamganj district. He worked as a manager at a solar power plant in Dharmapasha.
Roni Miah, Kajol’s niece’s husband, said that Kajol Miah had been missing since 2:30 PM on Wednesday, and a General Diary (GD) regarding the matter had been filed with the police.
He alleged that miscreants had deliberately strangled Kajol to death and then tied his body to the tree branch. He demanded the maximum punishment for the actual perpetrators following a proper investigation.
Mohanganj Police Station OC Md. Hafizur Islam Harun said that the body was recovered and an inquest report was prepared. The body has been sent to Netrakona Modern Sadar Hospital for an autopsy.
