Is beauty merely about a beautiful face? Or does it also reflect confidence, personality, talent and a sense of responsibility towards society?
Seeking to redefine the conventional idea of beauty, Moli, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Miss and Mrs Elegance Bangladesh, is taking a different approach to the beauty pageant.
Her vision was reflected in a unique initiative at the second audition round of Miss and Mrs Elegance Bangladesh Season 2, where selected contestants received neem saplings instead of the traditional ‘Yes Cards’.
The initiative turned a routine selection moment into a message of environmental responsibility.
As contestants walked the runway and presented themselves before the judges, the excitement of the selection process reached a different level when the selected participants were handed neem saplings.
For Moli, the idea goes beyond simply introducing something new to a beauty pageant. She believes a beauty platform should help develop confidence, personality, talent and social awareness among women.
A small neem sapling, therefore, became a symbol of both achievement and responsibility.
The second season of Miss and Mrs Elegance Bangladesh has already attracted significant participation. In the first audition round, around 50 contestants were shortlisted from more than a hundred participants in the Miss and Mrs categories. Following the second audition, 20 contestants were selected.
The selection process, however, was not limited to physical beauty. Confidence, personality, talent and presentation skills were also considered important criteria.
According to Moli’s vision, the conventional perception of judging women solely by their appearance has long become outdated. A woman’s confidence, leadership qualities, talent and contribution to society are equally important aspects of her identity.
It is this philosophy that inspired the organisers to bring an environmental message to the beauty stage.
The decision to use neem saplings as ‘Yes Cards’ was not merely an attempt to create a unique moment. Rather, it was intended to connect the celebration of beauty with a broader message of environmental awareness.
The organisers say such an initiative is rare in beauty pageants. Their message is simple: when a contestant receives a ‘Yes’, it should not only mark a new opportunity in her own life, but also inspire a positive change beyond the stage.
The pageant also has ambitions of taking its winners to the international arena. The winner of the Miss category is planned to represent Bangladesh internationally, with the organisers aiming to send her to Miss Earth 2026, scheduled to be held in the Philippines.
Through this journey from the national stage to the international arena, Moli hopes to promote a generation of confident, talented and socially conscious women.
Iqbal Hossain, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Miss and Mrs Elegance Bangladesh, is also playing a key role in the organisation of the pageant. Ibn Sayed Angkur is serving as a Board Director.
Amid the glamour, competition and aspirations surrounding the pageant, one simple object has emerged as a powerful symbol of its vision—a neem sapling.
A ‘Yes Card’ may open a door of opportunity for a contestant. A sapling, meanwhile, can contribute to a greener future.
For Moli, beauty is therefore not merely about looking beautiful. It is also about creating something beautiful for society and the environment.
With this philosophy, Miss and Mrs Elegance Bangladesh seeks to move beyond the traditional boundaries of a beauty pageant and establish itself as a platform for confidence, talent, social awareness and positive change.
