Barguna Reporters Unity President Taposh, Secretary Rasel

The new executive committee of Barguna Reporters Unity has been formed for the term of 2026-2027. Taposh Mahmud has been elected as the president and Md. Rasel Hawlader as the general secretary. The committee was announced at a special meeting held at the Barguna Reporters Unity office on Thursday (July 23) morning. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of the organization’s recently outgoing president Md. Jahangir Hossain Sikder. Chief Election Commissioner Govinda Chandra Malakar moderated the meeting and conducted the committee formation activities.
After the meeting, a colorful oath-taking and inauguration ceremony of the newly elected committee was held at the city’s hotel ‘Bay-of-Bengal’. Additional Deputy Commissioner Animesh Biswas was present as the chief guest. District Information Officer Selim Mahmud administered the oath to the newly elected members.
The newly formed 17-member committee includes Senior Vice President Sajibul Islam, Vice Presidents Rashed Ahmed Bashir and Md. Monirul Islam, Joint General Secretary Atiqur Rahman Isti, Organizing Secretary Maulana Idrisur Rahman, Finance Secretary Md. Arifur Rahman Khan, Office Secretary Ripon Mali, Publicity Secretary Rakibul Islam Rasel, Information and Research Secretary Mohibullah Kiron, Women’s Affairs Secretary Dr. Monija, Cultural Secretary Shaon, Religious Affairs Secretary Maulana Mahadi Hasan, and Sports Secretary Md. Ilias Mia.
In addition, Md. Jahangir Hossain Sikder, Gobinda Chandra Malakar, Sohel Tanvir, and Mahabubul Alam Mannu have been elected as executive members. At the event, the newly elected leaders expressed their determination to work together to maintain the unity of the organization, improve professional standards, and protect the rights and welfare of journalists. Various local media personnel, dignitaries, and invited guests from Barguna were present at the event.
