The Bandarban Hill District Council is distributing rice as relief to flood victims in Bandarban Sadar Upazila.This rice distribution is being carried out using an allocation announced by the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs.As part of a phased distribution program covering seven upazilas and two municipalities,rice was distributed on Sunday (August 2) to affected individuals in Kuhalong Union of Bandarban Sadar Upazila.
Bhdc Chairman Professor Thanjama Lusai was present as the chief guest on the occasion.May May Nue,the District Council member and convener of the Social Services Department’s convening committee,presided over the event.On this day,rice was distributed to 136 families at the premises of the Balaghata Vocational Training Institute.
District Council representatives,local representatives,officials from relevant departments and Ayub Member,former General Secretary of the Bandarban Sadar Upazila BNP were present at the event.
Bandarban hill District Council member May May Nue stated that rice has been distributed in phases to those affected in Bandarban Sadar Upazila.Previously,the distribution of rice to flood victims based on a prepared list was completed across various areas of Bandarban Sadar, including Reicha,Roaza,Goaliakhola, Dolupara,Chemir Mukh,Kuhalong, Bottoli and Sualok.
Those affected reported extensive damage to their homes and crops caused by the flash floods.This assistance from the District Council has brought significant relief during these trying times.Officials have confirmed that relief distribution operations will continue and the aid will be provided to all affected families in the upazila in phases.
