Attempt to Abduct 4-Year-Old Child Using Chocolate Lure in Gazipur

Allegations have surfaced regarding an attempt to render a 4-year-old child unconscious after luring her into a bathroom with the promise of chocolate at the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College and Hospital in Gazipur. Hospital Ansar members subsequently conducted a search operation, rescued the child in an unconscious state, and handed the accused over to the police. The incident occurred around 2:30 AM on Saturday (October 3) in the surgery ward on the 8th floor of the hospital.
The victim, Debadrita Das, was visiting her maternal grandfather, who was admitted to that ward. According to the complaint, a man named Liton Mia lured the child into the 8th-floor bathroom by promising her chocolate. Upon learning of the incident, the child’s mother, Jobarani Das, reported the matter to authorities on the 3rd floor of the hospital. Following the complaint, a patrol team—led by PC Md. Golam Mostafa and including APC Md. Ujjal Hossain, along with Ansar members Md. Sujan Mia and Md. Shakil Haque—immediately launched a search operation for the child.
After a search lasting approximately two hours, the child was rescued in an unconscious state from a toilet on the 8th floor, where she had been held by Liton Mia. At the time of the rescue, the child was unable to speak. Reports indicate that a quantity of cannabis and two mobile phones were recovered from Liton Mia. The detained individual, Liton Mia, is the son of the late Abul Hossain from the Hotapara area of Joydebpur in Gazipur Sadar Upazila. Police have initiated legal proceedings regarding the incident.
