Workers at the Aman Feed mill in Ullapara, Sirajganj, held a protest rally demanding the resignation of the mill’s Deputy General Manager (DGM). On Wednesday morning (September 9), workers gathered on the mill premises under the banner of a trade union registered with the Department of Labour. They staged a protest rally and a human chain to demand the establishment of their legitimate rights, an end to arbitrary layoffs, a discrimination-free work environment, and permanent employment for genuine workers.

At the rally, worker leaders strongly demanded the resignation of the allegedly corrupt DGM, Salauddin Ahmed. They also called for the fulfillment of legitimate demands for workers long deprived of their rights—specifically seeking permanent employment, the issuance of service cards, and a halt to the entry of outside workers. Worker leader Al Imran stated at the rally that the DGM must resign and the infiltration of outside workers must be stopped.

He emphasized that various demands, including fair wages for workers, must be met. Otherwise, the workers would launch a larger movement. The spirited protest by the workers brought the mill’s loading and unloading operations to a halt. This caused a standstill in mill operations, and the situation became somewhat tense. In response, the mill authorities contacted the police to help maintain control.

Police arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control. During the protest, media personnel attempted to visit the Aman Feed mill’s administrative office to obtain a statement from the authorities but were prevented from doing so. Later, when contacted by phone, the mill’s administrative officer and DGM, Mohammad Salauddin Ahmed, stated that the matter would be discussed at a later time, subject to the Chairman’s permission.
