Former chairman of the bank, prominent industrialist Mr. Abdus Samad Labu, has demanded the reinstatement of 547 officials dismissed from Al-Arafah Islami Bank. On July 23, on behalf of the former chairman of the bank, Abdus Samad Labu, his Personal Secretary (PS) Muhammad Piaru submitted a letter to the Governor of Bangladesh Bank in this regard.

In the letter, he said that in the wake of the political change following the 2024 mass uprising, the board of this bank was abolished and an independent board of directors nominated by Bangladesh Bank was formed. It has already been established that the outgoing governor of Bangladesh Bank, Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur, has created extreme anarchy in the name of reform in the banking sector of Bangladesh out of complete revenge. As a result, many banks have been plunged into extreme existential crisis. Since 2017, under the capable leadership of Abdus Samad Labu, Al-Arafah Bank has become a strong and sustainable bank.

Bangladesh Bank and various external audit firms have searched and found no irregularities or corruption in this bank. In the end, even the chairman Khwaja Shahriar, appointed by Ahsan H. Mansur, was forced to admit that good governance and discipline were maintained in Al-Arafah Islami Bank. The outgoing governor used this interim board of directors to force 547 permanent and experienced officers of the bank to be dismissed by identifying them as incompetent in the name of fraudulent examinations.

The honorable court ruled in favor of the dismissed officers. But the dismissed officers are living in poverty. There is no one to stand by them. They are living in dire straits with their elderly parents and family members. He requested the governor to instruct the current board to immediately take steps to reinstate the 547 officers in the bank.
