The removal of Advocate Nur-e-Azam Babu, President of the Upazila BNP, from the post of President of the Sariakandi College Governing Body has sparked widespread discussion and mixed reactions within local political circles. It has been reported that discussions among local BNP leaders and activists began after news emerged on September 14 regarding the decision by the National University board to remove him from the presidency.

Leaders and activists of the Upazila BNP allege that Advocate Nur-e-Azam Babu was removed from the governing body presidency following a DO (Demi-Official) letter from the local Member of Parliament. Advocate Nur-e-Azam Babu serves as the President of the Sariakandi Upazila BNP. Concurrently, he held the position of President of the Sariakandi College Governing Body. Consequently, the removal of such a politically significant leader from the college’s governing body presidency has become a focal point of discussion among party members.

Local activists argue that the matter is not limited merely to a change in the college governing body’s presidency; it may also involve local BNP politics, leadership dynamics, and internal party relations. Grassroots BNP activists expressed frustration, noting that he has long been active in party politics and has been serving as the Upazila BNP President.

They believe it is necessary to clarify the reasons behind the decision to remove such a leader from a key position at the college. Speaking on the matter, Advocate Nur-e-Azam Babu—the former President of the Sariakandi College Governing Body and current Upazila BNP President—stated, “There was no scope for irregularities or nepotism in any recruitment process at the college during my tenure.”
