The sensational incident took place in Jharaborsha village of Ghuridah union of Saghata upazila of Gaibandha. Sumna Akhter is the child of Shahidul Islam and Lovely Begum couple of this village.

Relatives said that Sumna Akhtar used to behave like men since childhood. At one stage, on the night of 22 May, the sensitive organs changed at the whim of nature. Sumna Akhter first told her grandmother about this on the morning of May 23. At one stage the rest of the family including father and mother are also confirmed. Everyone is worried about this as a family. Besides, they kept the incident a secret.

Sumna Akhtar and family members said that Sumna Akhtar suddenly returned to her previous state in the early morning. In other words, this Sumana, transformed from a girl to a boy, is now a girl.
