Allegations of police harassment have been raised at Borhanabagh residence of Advocate Samsuzzaman Zaman, Member of Sylhet District Lawyers Association and Editor of Daily Shyamal Sylhet.

District Lawyers Association has expressed strong condemnation and anger in this incident.

In a circular signed by the general secretary of the association, Advocate Golam Yah-Ya Chowdhury (Suhail), it is said that a group of policemen of Shahparan police station tried to enter the house gate of Samsuzzaman of Borhanabagsth illegally and threatened to arrest. Even though Samsuzzaman is a senior lawyer of the Zaman District Bar Association, the entire legal community has been humiliated by the police using intemperate language with him and insulting him by calling him a listed identified person.

Sylhet District Bar Association President Advocate Ashok Purkayastha and General Secretary Advocate Golam Yah-Ya Chowdhury (Suhel) in a joint statement strongly condemned the incident and demanded that appropriate action be taken against those responsible immediately. Press release
