In Hiramati village of Madhavpur union of Kamalganj upazila of Moulvibazar, a housewife died after being bitten by a poisonous snake.

Pradeep Singh, a close relative of the deceased, said that Jharna Singha (27), wife of Babul Singh of Hiramati village, was bitten by a poisonous snake on her left hand when she was cutting kachu from the side of the cowshed for cow feed on Tuesday afternoon. After biting the snake, when Jharna came to the house and told the people about biting the snake, the family members tied them tightly with cloth and took them to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital for treatment. After being taken to Sadar Hospital, the snake bite injection was given but Jharna could not be saved.

Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital RMO Faychayuzzaman said, after bringing Jharna to the hospital, we give the snake bite injection. But before that, it was not possible to save him due to the spread of the snake’s poison in Jharna’s body.

Meanwhile, Jharna was declared dead from the hospital and handed over to her family, but the family members took her to a local Ozar (Sapur) living in Srigobindpur tea garden without cremating her because of her body being hot. When Jharna died there at 6 in the evening, her relatives took the initiative to cremate the body.
