The government will buy 41 thousand metric tons of paddy and rice in Gaibandha

In Gaibandha, the government has set a target of buying 41 thousand 25 metric tons of boro paddy and rice in 7 upazilas. Out of this, 10 thousand 651 metric tons of paddy will be collected directly from the farmers and 30 thousand 374 tons of rice will be collected from the millers of the district.
District Food Controller Al-Waziur Rahman gave this information under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Oliur Rahman in the monthly development coordination committee meeting of the district administration held at noon on Monday (22 May). In this, the price of paddy is fixed at 28 taka and the price of rice at 44 taka per kg.
District Food Controller Al-Waziur Rahman said in the meeting held in the conference room of the District Commissioner, the collection of paddy and rice has started from May 7. Around 1000 metric tonnes of rice has already been purchased from millers in 11 procurement centres. Earlier, agreements were concluded with 447 millers of the district to make the rice collection campaign a success.
