The third tea auction is held at Srimangal

The third tea auction of the season was held at the second tea auction center in the country at Srimangal in Moulvibazar. 74 thousand 680 kg of tea was raised in the auction. 25 thousand 45 kgs were sold. 15/20 buyers participated including 5 broker houses of Srimangal.

The auction was held on Wednesday (May 17) from 10:00 am to 11:00 pm at the temporary office of the Srimangal Tea Auction Center at the Zilla Parishad Auditorium. 15/20 buyers participated in the auction including 5 brokers houses in Srimangal.

In the auction, 74 thousand 680 kg of tea leaves were auctioned, the estimated market value of which is 1 crore 49 lakh 36 thousand 80 taka. The average price of tea per kg is approximately Tk 200. 25 thousand 45 kg of tea has been sold. Tea experts said that the quality and production of tea has declined due to lack of rain and unfavorable weather conditions.

Srimangal Brokers Managing Director Helal Ahmad said that about 75 thousand kg of tea has been sold. Due to lack of rain, the quality of tea was not good. Buyers are coming very less. Moreover, the price of tea is much lower than before. In the number of rupees, approximately one and a half crores of tea has been offered.

Sylhet Region Chairman of Bangladeshi Tea Association GM Shibli said that new buds of tea are not coming due to low rainfall this May. Tea production has decreased due to lack of rain. It is raining on Wednesday. Hopefully, if the rain continues for a few days like this, new tea buds will emerge, and the tea production will be good.
