The election of Hindu Buddhist, Christian unity council of Shaestaganj upazila of Habiganj district was held. However, two sides have doubts about this. One party called it a pocket committee. There has been excitement and debate in Shaistaganj throughout the day. The bi-annual election of that council was held on Wednesday at Purba Barachar Madan Mohan Jiur Akhara. Hundreds of workers participated in it.

Asit Kumar Das Montu, Shankar Roy and Dulal Chandra Dev contested for the post of President. Johnny Chowdhury, Bishwa Roy and Apu Dev as General Secretary. But as all the committee members were not invited, a dilemma arose between them. 70 voters participated in it. Shortly after the start of the conference, president candidates Shankar Roy and Dulal Chandra Dev, general secretary Johnny Chowdhury, Bishwa Roy boycotted the election and withdrew their candidature. At this time, there was an argument between them. At one point they went out. Later the committee was announced with Asit Das Montu as president and Shankar Dev as general secretary. This caused tension between the people on both sides. Later, the district committee and locals mediated the peace.
In this regard, president candidate Dulal Chandra and general secretary Johnny Chowdhury said that Asit Das Montu made a pocket committee with his own people. They demanded the cancellation of the committee.
Meanwhile, Asit Dash Montu said, they withdrew fearing defeat. In the presence of the district committee it was resolved nicely.
