A child died after being entangled in an electric wire in a fish farm pond in Baruna area of Srimangal, Moulvibazar.

The incident took place in Baruna village of Srimangal upazila on Tuesday (April 25) morning.

Police and locals said that a 12-year-old boy named Sanwar got caught in an electric wire when he went to catch a dead fish floating in the farm pond in the morning. Later the locals rescued him and took him to Moulvibazar General Hospital with 250 beds where the doctor declared him dead. It is believed that the accident occurred due to the falling of the electric cable. Sanwar is the son of Danu Mia of Baruna village. The police handed over the body to the family after the post-mortem.
