Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Khandaker Golam Farooq said that there is no new threat against the Eid Jamaat. However, keeping in mind the past accidents at Sholakia Eidgah, special security measures have been taken.

He said this while talking to reporters after observing the security measures taken by the National Eidgah Maidan on Friday morning.

DMP Commissioner Khandkar Ghulam Farooq said, on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, crores of Muslims will offer Eid prayers across the country. Eid prayers will be held in many places in Dhaka. One of the largest national Eidgah grounds, where Dhaka’s largest congregation will be held. Many important persons of the state including the President will come to pray at the National Eidgah grounds. About 35 thousand people will pray here together. Besides, Eid congregation will be held in many places of Dhaka including Baitul Mukarram.

In response to a question, the DMP Commissioner said that there is no specific threat on Eid. However, since it is the largest Eid congregation in Dhaka, maximum security arrangements are in place.

He said, we will ensure security in every Eid congregation. I assure them that the worshipers will be able to offer Eid prayers without any fear.

Khandkar Ghulam Farooq said that the whole field has been swept by CTTC’s dog squad, which will continue till the morning of Eid. The entire area will be guarded by uniformed and plainclothes policemen to prevent any unwanted entry into the Eidgah grounds.

The DMP Commissioner said that four levels of security measures have been taken at the National Eidgah grounds. The entire field will be monitored through CC cameras. Everyone coming to the National Eidgah has to enter through the archway. So that everyone comes to the field with some time. Do not bring anything other than Zaynamaz to the field. No flammable material can be brought.
