General Secretary of Awami League and Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader said, India has given everything we wanted. We want friendship with India. If there is friendship, the problems will be solved.

He said this at the ‘BSRF Dialogue’ organized by the Bangladesh Secretariat Reporters Forum (BSRF) at the secretariat’s media center on Wednesday (September 7) at 11 am.

General Secretary of Awami League said that Sheikh Hasina has not forgotten to talk about Teesta. Although there is some objection from West Bengal, I hope that will be done. Disappointment of not getting BNP. We are not disappointed. You built a wall with India, we broke that wall. No country’s enclave has been so peaceful.

Obaidul Quader said, politics should not have any time limit as long as he is able. If he thinks I want to retire he can quit. After voicing his opinion, the team can retire him if it feels like it. He may be given the post of Honorary Advisor. If you can’t do politics at your last age, then you died before your death. The leader will take the final decision regarding the general secretary.

When asked if he thinks the current cabinet is a bit weak, he said, those who are in our cabinet are not weak. There may be errors. There may be some weakness. But the cabinet is not weak. You are writing in the media, it is under the attention of the Prime Minister. He is inquiring.

He said, in dialogue with the EC, we have asked for EVMs in 300 seats. The Election Commission has announced the EVM voting in the upcoming elections in 150 constituencies. We welcome this decision. The decision taken by the commission is right for the sake of fair elections. Citizens can raise their demands, what the EC will do is their decision.

Obaidul Quader said, there is movement in politics and there will be. We want people’s involvement. Peaceful movement is one thing, violent movement must be resisted in public interest with the people. Let’s say to BNP – we think of them as opponents but they are our enemies. Stopping the movement of people by blocking the roads, stopping the conflict, attacking the police, and somewhere clashing with the Awami League. BNP could not force the release of Begum Zia by agitating. Where is your democracy? BNP workers have also forgotten when their conference was held.
