Service aspirants come to Habiganj BRTA office and fall into the clutches of brokers. As a result, on the one hand, the victims are being harassed and on the other hand, the service receivers have to spend more than the amount fixed by the government. Driving license or car registration card is not available even after months. Besides, for a long time the assistant director Habibur Rahman was responsible for the same Habiganj and Moulvibazar, so he could not be found on time.

It is alleged that the broker circle is becoming reckless with the help of the officials and employees of the government office. The authority of the brokers in that office is so great that no papers go in and out without them. A few days ago, closed circuit TV cameras (CCTV) were installed in the BRTA office to rein in the brokers. At that time, the number of brokers decreased slightly, but recently their free movement has increased again.

Meanwhile, sources said the CCTV of the office has become useless due to mysterious reasons. Due to which the brokers have become reckless. Previously, the district administration arrested several brokers from inside the BRTA office and fined them jail through the mobile court, but after a few days, the brokers are doing this under the umbrella of the assistant director.

After investigation, it is known that for the driving license of light vehicles including motorcycles, the government has to deposit 50038 taka in the bank first. After passing the driving test, another two thousand three hundred rupees have to be deposited. In total, the cost of a person to get a driving license is 2 thousand 838 taka. But to get this light vehicle license from Habiganj BRTA office, customer has to pay Tk 10 to 15 thousand. Also, for each CNG license, road permit and vehicle number plate, about 12,500 taka has to be deposited as per the government instructions. And here the customer has to pay 30 to 40 thousand taka. The extra money fixed by the government goes into the pockets of brokers and dishonest office officials.

Giving such information, Russell Mia, a resident of the district town, told CNBangladesh, “I went to the Habiganj BRTA office for several days to get a light vehicle license. Finally the license is granted. But the authorities were delaying to grant the license. At one point, when I told the journalist to report these irregularities in the newspaper, I quickly got the license. Along with this, even the strict measures of the district administration cannot control the broker circle. The service receivers are being subjected to extreme harassment in their clutches.
Russell Mia also said that this problem of Habiganj BRTA office is not for one day or two days. Over the years, consumers have become fed up with brokers.

An employee of the office, who did not want to be named, said that even though there is CCTV, the brokers are roaming around. As a result, customer harassment at BRTA offices has increased again. Every day from morning to evening, there are some named brokers around the BRTA office and inside the office. Simple people from Gramganj are put at a disadvantage as brokers themselves provide attestation and medical certificate. There are also such complaints.
