Liz Truss has taken over as the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. This leader of the Conservative Party accepted the responsibility after meeting with Queen Elizabeth II in Scotland’s Balmoral on Tuesday. Earlier, outgoing Prime Minister Boris Johnson submitted his resignation letter to the Queen.

According to a BBC report, the transfer of power has been done very carefully.

In a statement, Buckingham Palace said Boris Johnson had tendered his resignation and the Queen had accepted it graciously.

Due to the Queen’s illness, the meetings were held at Balmoral Castle in Scotland instead of Buckingham Palace in London.

Liz Truss and Johnson went to Balmoral separately. Before going there, Johnson gave a farewell speech at No. 10 Downing Street.

In that speech, he highlighted the various successes of his government including Brexit, Covid vaccine and also the Ukraine issue. MPs, aides and wife Carrie were present during his speech.

In his speech, Johnson said how he made Brexit a success and delivered the Covid vaccine to British citizens as soon as possible. Apart from this, he highlighted his government’s achievements in education, health and investment.

Regarding Russia, he said, Russian President Vladimir Putin cannot blackmail the people of the United Kingdom with the energy crisis. The new Conservative government will overcome this crisis.

Apart from this, he said that there will be support for the new government and we will overcome all problems and become strong in all aspects. Now is the time to support Lease Truss for this work.

The political journey of Liz Truss

Liz Truss, a little-known politician who won the race for Prime Minister in Britain, has had a varied political journey. He is not as well known in Number 10 Downing Street as his predecessor. Even Tory MPs were not the most eligible contenders for the post of Prime Minister.

But his promise to return to the Conservatives’ core values of cutting taxes and empowering the people by reducing the state’s power seemed more important to party members, and in the end it was their vote to replace Boris Johnson with Liz Truss as the new prime minister.

In addition, Liz is considered by the staff to be closer than Rishi Sunak, scion of a rival rich family and Indian-origin. Which is reflected in the voting results.
