Fisherman killed by lightning in Tangua

A fisherman named Rafiqul Islam (18) was killed by lightning while fishing in Hawar, Tangua.
The fisherman was killed when lightning struck a bill in Sunamganj’s Tahirpur upazila at Tanguar Haor yesterday at around 8:30 pm on Wednesday.
The deceased is the son of deceased police officer Mia of Lamagaon village on the bank of Tanguar Ha in Dakshin Sripur Union of Rafiqul Upazila.
Tahirpur police station OC Syed Iftekhar Hossain confirmed the death of the jailer due to lightning.
According to the family sources of the deceased fisherman Rafiqul, Rafiqul, a fisherman of Lamagaon village of the upazila, along with another colleague, went to catch fish in a bill (Jalmahal) in front of the village in Tangua Haor in the evening. After returning to the village to have dinner with the accompanying companions, it started raining heavily around 8:30 pm.
Meanwhile, Rafiqul Islam fell to his death instantly when he was on a fishing boat while fishing in Tangua’s Howre Bill, which was struck by lightning along with rain. When the rain subsided a little, Rafiqul’s companion went back to Howar and found his frozen body lying in the boat and informed the family and villagers. Villagers and family members took the dead body of Rafiqul from Haor to the village house at night.
