Narayanganj, Netrokona and other parts of the country including opposition party leaders and activists have been severely criticized by the founding trustee of Gonoshasthaya Kendra. Zafrullah Chowdhury. He said, ‘What is happening today is not a picture of Bangladesh. Protesting against injustice is a divine command. Check out your victory is guaranteed. Change is bound to happen when you hit the streets. The government is afraid of running away.

He said these things in the speech of the chief guest at a discussion meeting in the auditorium of Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital in the capital on Saturday afternoon.

Bhasani Anusari Parishad organized this meeting on the occasion of the seventh death anniversary of late Kazi Zafar Ahmad, one of the organizers of the liberation war, former Prime Minister and Chairman of Jatiya Party. Under the chairmanship of freedom fighter Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu and Habibur Rahman Rizu, the trustee of Gonoshasthaya Kendra gave a virtual speech as the chief guest. Zafrullah Chowdhury. Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) ASM Abdur Rob, Jatiya Party (Zafar) Chairman Mustafa Jamal Haider, Citizens Union President Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Janayed Saki of the Mass Solidarity Movement, Gana Odhikar Parishad VP Nurul Haque Noor, Jatiya Party (Zafar) spoke on the occasion. Acting Secretary General Kazi Nazrul Islam, Akhtar Hossain of Bhasani Anusari Parishad, Dr. Salim, Babul Biswas and other leaders of various organizations.

Dr. Zafrullah Chowdhury said, ‘Today the police are beating for no reason. Who gave them the right to shoot? What is happening in Manikganj, Narayanganj, Rangpur is this a picture of Bangladesh? Not much time left. Let the leaders of the democracy stage come to the field.

He said to the head of government, ‘There is still time. The country cannot continue like this. Wrong move, let go of arrogance and talk to people. You are afraid of discussion. He says one thing and does another. The country needs change. But there is no need for rebellion.

Zafrullah Chowdhury said, “Today there is no Kazi Zafar but there are many freedom fighters. If we take to the streets, the country is bound to change within 15 months. We are in the fight, we will be inshallah.

JSD’s ASM Rob said, “In Narayanganj, the administration refused to give the body of Jubo Dal leader Shaon.” Which is reminiscent of Ayub Khan’s rule.’

He said, ‘Kazi Zafar Ahmad will not come again. He is most needed today. I was the first to say that the Constitution of 1972 should be thrown into the Bay of Bengal, not the Buriganga. Democracy is a prerequisite for social change. People do not understand any ideology. They want their rights. What is happening in the whole country including Narayanganj today, the government is leading the country to blood.

Rob said, “Today there is an armed attack on the crowd. How much blood do you want? If you take blood, you have to leave. Rule of shooting with permission of Magistrate. But what created the circumstances of the shooting?’

He also said, “It is much better to surrender to the people than to be in power with foreign support.” That is honorable. Going abroad to sign the Teesta Agreement. Talk about stopping the killing of people at the border. If not, do not come to the country. If we have to die, we will die, we will leave after demanding. I will not let you stay. I will not let you leave the country.

Mustafa Jamal Haider said, “Late Qazi Zafar Ahmad was unique in the political arena. He is the witness of the golden history of the country. Talented politicians like him are rare in Bangladesh politics. He was one of the organizers of the liberation war.

Mahmudur Rahman Manna of Nagarik Oikya said, ‘Kazi Zafar Ahmad was a prudent politician. The country cannot continue as it is today. They are smugglers, vote thieves, robbers. We are fighting for the right to vote. Inshallah we can change Bangladesh.

Freedom fighter Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu, convener of the Bhasani Anusari Parishad, said, “On February 22, 1970, Kazi Zafar Ahmad first called for an independent East Bengal. No one else did this dare. He did the right thing at the right time. Today we lack strong leaders like him. His political philosophy and wisdom were unparalleled.

He said, ‘today democracy stage movement is being carried out with the aim of resolving the deadlock of the country and obtaining voting rights. If the regime is not changed this time, voting rights cannot be realized. The government has become reckless. The speech that Awami League leader Sheikh Hasina has been giving all day about Khaleda Zia cannot be a statement. This fight is the fight to establish voting rights. If the country continues like this, we will not be able to protect the new generation. Today the son or child is being punished for the crime of the father. Can it be a rule?’

Jonaid Saki, chief coordinator of mass solidarity movement, said, “Giant regime is running in the country. Awami League’s Constitution of Pranith 72 has brought us to this predicament today. We have to rethink the social, cultural and political structure of Bangladesh. We are now passing through a transitional period. Awami League established fascism in the country. They thought they should not leave the mattress. They have made the country very vulnerable. They are dreaming of re-election again. But this time they will not be given that opportunity.

He said, “People will bring people to justice who have spoken about elections while keeping the government in power, who have stood for a family.” Awami League is trembling with fear. They are putting the future of the country in jeopardy. We will take the people with us and form a fierce resistance. Sheikh Hasina must be defeated in front of us.

Nurul Haque Noor said, ‘How inferior is the government that they are shooting and killing people in the procession of the opposition party. We are fighting for the survival of the country. If we cannot protect people’s right to vote, the country’s independence and sovereignty will be threatened. This apprehension is seen among everyone today. Bangladesh cannot be allowed to be robbed. How many police in a police station? Mothers and sisters should also protest if someone attacks them unjustly. He has to protest with what he has. Awami League is running riot in the country today. We will not go to elections under the government. Because they have cheated in the past.
