Inauguration of the three-day agricultural fair in Kumarkhali
Zaker ALi Shuva: A three-day agricultural fair has been inaugurated at Kumarkhali in Kushtia under the Greater Kushtia and Jessore Region Agricultural Development Project in the financial year 2022-23. On Thursday morning, the meeting was held at Abul Hossain Tarun Auditorium square in the organization of Upazila Agriculture Extension Department. Barrister Salim Altaf George, Honorable Member of Parliament 78, Kushtia-4 was present as the chief guest under the chairmanship of Upazila Nirbahi Officer Bitan Kumar Mandal. Attended as a special guest – Dr. Hayat Mahmud, Deputy Director, Directorate of Agricultural Extension, Khamarbari, Kushtia, Md. Shamshuzzaman Arun, Mayor, Kumarkhali Municipality, Md. Saidur Rahman, Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman, Kumarkhali, Marina Akhter Mina, Upazila Parishad Women Vice Chairman, Kumarkhali, Md. Amirul Arafat, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Kumarkhali, Kushtia etc. Agriculture Extension Officer Md. Raisul Islam conducted the program and welcome speech was given by agriculturist Debashish Kumar Das. After the discussion meeting, the guests inaugurated the three-day long agricultural fair by cutting the ribbon. There are 24 stalls in the fair. Seasonal fruits including large banana trees, gourds, radishes, mustard plants, kachu, kolkipi, papaya attract visitors. Besides, in front of the agricultural products exhibition, people of all ages are enjoying the scene of crop production along with the upazila map made of different seeds. The agricultural fair is crowded from morning till night. School and college students attended the fair and told about their plans to involve themselves in the production of such agricultural products in the future. About hundred agricultural products brought to the fair including tall mustard plant, banana leaves, long radish, kg weight papaya, jackfruit, lemon, tamarind are brought to the fair which attract the attention of visitors of all ages. Upazila Agriculture Officer agriculturist Debashish Kumar Das said that the agricultural fair is crowded with visitors from morning till night. About hundred agricultural products have been brought to the fair. In the financial year 2022-23, an agricultural fair has been organized under the Greater Kushtia and Jessore Region Agricultural Development Project.
