Discussion meeting on the occasion of Bengali Sign Language Day in Chapainawabganj

Abdullah Al Mamun: Bengali Sign Language Day was celebrated in Chapainawabganj with the theme of ‘Bangla Sign Language, improving the quality of life of speech and hearing impaired people’. On the occasion of the day, a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the district administration on Tuesday morning. Chapainawabganj District Administration, District Social Services Directorate, Disability Services and Aid Center jointly organized this discussion meeting. Deputy Commissioner AKM Galiv Khan was present as the chief guest on the occasion. It was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Agriculturist Ahmed Mahbub-ul-Islam. Zilla Parishad Chairman Brave freedom fighter Ruhul Amin, Brave freedom fighter Advocate Abdus Samad, Principal of Chapainawabganj Women’s Government College Professor Monowara Khatun, Executive Engineer of LGED Mazaher Ali Pramanik, Medical Officer of Civil Surgeon Office Dr. Rakibul Islam, District Disability Affairs Officer Md. Shariatullah, Senior Vice President of District Chambers of Commerce and Industry Masiul Karim Babu, Executive Director of Angels Garden, a disabled organization, Aminul Islam and others spoke on the occasion. Deputy Director of District Social Services Directorate Umme Kulsoom presented the picture related to Bengali Sign Language in the welcome speech at the meeting. The program was conducted by District Social Service Officer Feroz Kabir. The Chief Guest said that it is better to call disabled people as special needs or golden citizens instead of calling them disabled. They should cooperate in all their work without neglecting them. There is no opportunity to look down on them because they are human too. Meanwhile, at 12 noon, a preparatory meeting organized by the district administration was held to prepare the program for Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day on February 21.
