In Gobindganj Upazila of Gaibandha, thousands of men and women took part in the street movement demanding justice for the murder of Aceland Abhidiya Mardi, a member of the 27th BCS administration cadre. Holding the national flag, they held protest marches and protest rallies.
On Thursday (January 12) noon, the procession left the Gobindganj-Dinajpur highway and ended at Bagardafarm Katamore. A protest rally was then held.

Speakers said, nine years have passed, but the killing of Aisland Abhidiya Mardi, the first of the Plains Aborigines, has not been prosecuted. Due to the negligence of the administration’s investigation, the judicial investigation has not been completed even today. One group is trying to influence the investigation. The tribals who came to the rally demanded an immediate trial for Abhidiya Mardi’s murder.
