Nazir Ahmad (18), who was seriously injured by the opponent’s domestic weapon during a tractor-haul attack in Barachatal village of Lakshiprasad East Union on the border of Kanighat upazila of Sylhet, died while undergoing treatment. The police have arrested the mastermind of this incident.

He died while undergoing treatment at Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital around 11 pm on Tuesday (August 30).

According to police and local sources, when Nazir Ahmad, son of Lutfur Rahman of Barachatal village, was plowing with a tractor last Tuesday (August 30th), Sukkur Ali, son of deceased Tajmul Ali and his son Delwar Hossain of the same village, plowed some of their fields with tractors. Nazir says to Ahmad. Nazir Ahmad told them that he will cultivate his own land, now he cannot cultivate their land. Shukur Ali and his son Delwar Hossain quarreled with Nazir Ahmad about this. At one stage Shukur Ali and his son Delwar and their family members attacked Nazir Ahmad with indigenous weapons and seriously injured him. Later, the locals rescued Nazir Ahmad with serious injuries and sent him to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital. While undergoing treatment there, Nazir Ahmad fell to his death around 11 pm on Tuesday.

On receiving the news of the incident, Kanaighat Circle ASP Abdul Karim, Police Station Officer-in-Charge Tajul Islam PPM, OC (Investigation) Dilip Kumar Nath visited the spot and continued the operation to arrest those involved in the murder. On Wednesday, police station OC (Investigation) Dilip Kumar Nath and second officer Sohel Mahmud arrested Shukur Ali, the mastermind of the incident, from Barachatal area.

Dilip Kumar Nath, OC (Investigation) of Kanighat police station confirmed the fact of the incident and said that the master Shukur Ali has been arrested in this incident. The family of the deceased has not filed any complaint with the police yet. The case is currently pending. He said that the operation is continuing to arrest others involved in the incident.
