The court sentenced the dowry husband to prison in Nabiganj. On Monday afternoon, the learned District and Sessions Judge of Habiganj Women and Child Abuse Prevention Tribunal-3 Judge SM Nasim Reza gave the sentence. Special PP Mustafa Mia handled the case for the state.

Court Peshkar Fazlu Mia said that Nurunnahar Akhtar, daughter of Masuk Mia of Logaon village of Ghaznaipur Union, was married to Md Fakhrul Islam, son of deceased Churuk Mia of Kayastha village. Although the marriage was happy for a few days, on February 11, 2018, Fakhrul Islam beat his wife Nurunnahar and sent her to Pitralaya for the demand of Tk 2 lakh dowry. Fakhrul Isla, his brother Badrul Islam, mother-in-law Shukur Chan, Nanad Arifa Begum filed a case against Nurunnahar as the plaintiff. After the testimony, Fakhrul was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment and 5 thousand taka fine, and 3 months without work.

Peshkar also said that the accused ran away on bail. As he was not present at the time of judgment, the sentence warrant was sent to the police station. Apart from this, 3 others were acquitted.
