2 passengers of an autorickshaw were killed and 5 injured when a sand-carrying truck crushed them in Sonarpara area of Gobindganj-Mahimaganj road in Gobindganj upazila of Gaibandha on Monday at 10 am.

The deceased are Dulali Begum (65), wife of Abu Bakkar Siddique of North Sholagari village of Shibpur union of Shibpur upazila, and Rashidul Islam Rubel (40), son of Golam Mostafa of Palashbari village of Rakhalburuj union and assistant teacher of Safia Khatun Government Primary School.
The injured are Lal Mia of Malancha village in Gobindganj, Afzal Hossain of Pacharia village, Enamul Haque of Habibpur village, Manik Mia of Khiribari village, Shah Alam of Kalakata Hamchapur.

Gobindganj police station officer-in-charge Bulbul Islam said that a sand-carrying truck heading to Mahimaganj hit a battery-operated autorickshaw heading towards Gobindganj city at a place called Sonarpara in the municipal area. 7 passengers including the autorickshaw driver were injured. When they were rescued and taken to Gobindganj Upazila Health Complex, duty doctor Dulali Begum and Bogura were taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where the duty doctor declared Rubel dead. Police impounded the truck but the driver and helper escaped.
