National Textbook Festival celebrated in Joypurhat
Nazrul Islam, Joypurhat: Like all over the country, amid great enthusiasm distribution of books in various schools in Joypurhat district has been started on January 1.
Thousands of children from different schools returned home with enthusiasm after receiving books. New textbooks were handed over to them on Sunday, the first day of the New Year.
Joypurhat Deputy Commissioner Salehin Tanveer Gazi was present as the chief guest and formally inaugurated the festival at Government R. B. High School grounds on Saturday and handed over new books to the students. Additional District Commissioner Anwar Parvez, Additional Superintendent of Police Mamun Khan Chishti, District Secondary Education Officer Abdur Razzak and District Awami League General Secretary Zakir Hossain Mondal were present.
Joypurhat Collectorate High School authority organized book distribution festival at 10 AM at its hall room on the first day of 2023.
Habel Uddin, an executive magistrate formally inaugurates the festival as chief guest and spoke on the occasion. With Mahbub-ul Alam, the headmaster of the school in the chair, the festival was attended, among others by, assistant Headmaster Gobinda Mohon Boshak, Aklima Khatun, Habiba Akhter, Masuma Akhter, Ahsan Kabir, Chameli Rani, Imam Masud and Golam Mostafa.
Free textbooks have been handed over to more than five hundred students of the academic year 2023 today, on the first day of New Year in the school. It was a joyous occasion. The students shouted the slogans “ Boycott child marriage’’ with placards with their hands. A huge number of guardians were gathering on the school playground. Students were very happy to get new books at the first day of 2023.
“My daughter has been preparing for receiving the new books since last night. She even woke up early to go to the school, ’’ said chumki Begum, a mother of a class viii student of Joypurhat Collectorate High School.
