Manoranjan Biswas, a resident of Baruna village in Kalapur union of the upazila, has been cultivating fish on about 106 acres of government and privately owned land in the Boyra bill of Hail Haor. Out of this there is about 92 acres leased locally from the DC office in the name of Annapurna Matsajjeevi Sambay Samity Limited. The remaining land is privately owned.

Manoranjan Biswas alleged in a press conference at Srimangal Press Club on Monday (December 26) afternoon, that with the help of Sheikh Khorshed Alam, the identified litigator of Moulvibazar Atghar area, some persons including Kala Mia, Dilu Mia, Mamun Mia, Nurul Haque, Tabarak Mia of Baruna village have been terrorists from these Jal Mahal for a long time. The fish have been looting and destroying resources by force. They are threatening to kill if they protest. Due to this, in the last few years, about 7-8 lakh rupees have to be faced with financial loss. When a complaint was filed at the Srimangal police station on December 8, the police visited the spot but did not take any action against the accused. Later, through the mediation of Srimangal Upazila Chairman, guards were appointed there.

In the press conference, it was alleged that on December 25, the said miscreants, armed with indigenous weapons, surrounded the appointed guards and people of Jalmahal and brutally beat them. Meanwhile, they forcefully took away two boats loaded with different species of fish from Jalmahal. There is no solution anywhere. In the press conference, he sought the intervention of the concerned for the safety of his property and family as he belongs to a minority community.

When asked about this, Srimangal Police Station OC Jahangir Hossain Sardar said that a complaint was received last night. He said to investigate and take action in this regard.
