In Kamalganj, Moulvibazar, a newborn was born without anus and with a cut lip. Gopal Bhar and Gitavati, a couple of poor tea workers from the southern part of the Madhavpur tea garden in the upazila, gave birth to the child in a private hospital in the district city last Friday. The tea worker family brought the newborn home without treatment due to lack of money.

It is known that Geetavati, a tea worker, gave birth to her fourth child at Moulvibazar Al-Hamra Private Hospital at 1 am. After birth, the newborn has no anus and cleft lip. Two days after the birth, the family came home with the newborn. Doctors say surgery on the anus will fix it. However, due to lack of money, the newborn was brought home.

Autorickshaw driver Gopal Bhar, the father of the newborn, said that the doctor said he would need money for the treatment. We poor people cannot afford treatment. If someone had helped, maybe it would have been possible to save my baby.

Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Mahbubul Alam Bhuiyan said, usually very few newborns are born in such a rare way. However, it is possible to solve this problem through surgery. Any anomaly seen after birth should take the baby to a surgeon. If surgery is done as soon as possible, the child will recover.
