1270 people were treated for leprosy in Sadullapur

So far 1 thousand 270 people have been treated for leprosy in Sadullapur Upazila of Gaibandha. In this year, 11 new patients have been diagnosed and 7 patients have recovered with treatment.
This information was informed at the linkage and advocacy meeting organized by the MEDPD project of The Leprosy Mission International Bangladesh at Sadullapur on Thursday (December 8).
Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Mocha presided over the meeting held in the upazila parishad hall with the support of the upazila administration. Roksan Begum. Upazila Parishad Chairman Saharia Khan Biplab, Upazila Health Complex Family Planning Officer Shahinul Islam Mondal spoke.
Area Development Officer of MEPD Project of The Leprosy Mission International Bangladesh Shariful Islam was present among others, Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer Abul Kalam Azad, Women Affairs Officer Ferdowsi Akhter, Development Facilitator of MEPD Project Pramoda Roy, TLCA of Upazila Health Complex Nahida Akhtar and others.
Area Development Officer of MEPD Project Shariful Islam said, this upazila has Leprosy and Handicapped Sarbik Village Development Cooperative Society Limited. The poor members of this association are working with the aim of establishing links with public and private service institutions.
He also said that leprosy is not an infectious disease. There is no reason to fear about this. So leprosy patients need not be neglected by family or society. All will be sincere to them.
