Tourist travel ban lifted in Thanchi upazila
Lutfur Rahman (Uzzal): The ban on tourist travel in Thanchi upazila of Bandarban has been lifted.But the period of ban on traveling to Ruma and Rowanchhari upazilas will remain in force till December 11.The matter was informed in a public notice signed by Deputy Commissioner of Bandarban Yasmin Parvin Tibriji (6 December).
According to the administration sources, joint forces anti-militant and anti-terror operations are continuing in the bordering hilly areas of Ruma and Rowangchari upazilas.For this reason,considering the overall safety of tourists,the administration has issued a temporary ban on the travel of local and foreign tourists and published a public notice.But On Tuesday (December 6),the administration decided to lift the travel ban in Thanchi upazila.
Recently,The district administration had issued a public notice extending the travel ban for tourists in three upazilas from December 1 to December 11.However,6 December (Tuesday),The Bandarban district administration issued a separate public notice to maintain the ban on tourist travel to Ruma and Rowangchari upazilas except Thanchi upazila until December 11.
