Two establishments fined for storing excess sugar in Srimangal and selling it at higher prices

Moulvibazar district office of Directorate of Consumer Rights has fined two establishments 45 thousand taka for the crime of storing sugar in Srimangal of Moulvibazar and selling it in the market at excessive price.

On Wednesday (November 16) in the afternoon under the leadership of Assistant Director of Consumer Rights Protection District Office Md Al-Amin and with the help of a team of RA-9, Adi Bhandaror on Moulvibazar road was raided for the crime of keeping 35 sacks of sugar in excess stock and 15 thousand taka and M/s Pran Gopal of Central Road. Banijyalaya was fined Tk 30,000 under the Consumer Rights Protection Act for various charges including selling sugar at a higher price than the fixed price list and not keeping purchase vouchers.

Assistant Director Md. Al-Amin said, we have been conducting raids in different markets of the district on the basis of intelligence reports. The District Consumer Office is aware that any unscrupulous traders may not create artificial constraints in the market by stocking excess products. In today’s operation, two establishments were fined 45 thousand rupees under the Consumer Protection Act. This type of campaign will continue throughout the district.
