2 killed along with journalist in accident in Srimangal

Srimangal Bangla TV correspondent Vikramjit Vardhan (50) was killed by a falling tree. Around noon on Friday, he was returning home with his son from Moulvibazar on a motorcycle when a tree fell on him and he was killed. He is the son of Dhirendra Vaidya of the upazila’s Kharyanura tea garden.

According to eyewitnesses and police sources, Vikramjit Vardhan along with his son Joy Vardhan left Moulvibazar on a motorcycle for his home in Srimangal for the family planning interview. On reaching Moulvibazar Mokambazar area, the thieves were cutting trees on the Srimangal-Moulvibazar road when a tree fell on journalist Vikramjit Vardhan, killing him on the spot. When his son Joy Vardhan was also injured, the locals rescued him and admitted him to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital.

In this regard, the officer in charge of Moulvibazar Model Police Station. Yasinul Haque said that journalist Vikramjit Vardhan was going to Srimangal with his son on a motorcycle. On reaching Mokambazar area, a cut tree fell on him and he was killed and if any complaint is received in this regard, the matter will be investigated and legal action will be taken against the criminals. Meanwhile, when the news of Vikramjit’s death spread, everyone was in mourning.

On the other hand, at 5:30 am on Friday morning, a cargo covered van standing on the road in Kalapur petrol pump area of ​​Srimangal Upazila was hit by another covered van carrying eggs from behind, killing the operator of the egg-bearing van and the driver injured on the spot. The deceased helper is identified as Md. Miraj Mia of B. Baria district and the injured driver as Salauddin of Chauddagram area of ​​Comilla district.
