Sheikh Hasina said that it will be easy to help people in any disaster, transportation and marketing of goods will also be quick and easy. The bridges have established direct road links with the capital, as they have freed up 33 routes from ferry services, making road links free, fast, easy and safe.

Among the bridges there are 46 in Chittagong Division, 17 in Sylhet Division, 14 in Barisal Division, seven in Dhaka and Rajshahi Division, six in Mymensingh Division and three in Rangpur Division.

He said, following the footsteps of the father of the nation in the development of road connectivity, three large bridges were constructed at Khulna, Pakshi and Ashuganj along with the completion of the Bangabandhu multi-purpose bridge over the Yamuna river – which made the highway network uninterrupted. His government built 19,000 large, medium, small bridges and culverts during the period of 1996 to 2001 after coming to power after twenty one years.

At that time Sunamganj, Barisal, Khagrachari and Chittagong districts were virtually connected with Ganobhaban.

While interacting with the beneficiaries, the Prime Minister called upon all to become more efficient and frugal in power and energy consumption to overcome the global crisis arising from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the global recession caused by the Russia-Ukraine war and the fear of world food crisis. The Prime Minister said, you will produce as much food as you can in each of your areas. Produce what you can, poultry, goats, sheep – you have to keep what you can. That is, they should try to make their own food resources. Because the shock of the global economic recession should not damage Bangladesh too much.

He said, this injury will come because the world is now a global village. Therefore, if there is a problem in any place, its impact also comes to Bangladesh. Also, as the price of everything goes up, we have to be very economical in our electricity consumption.

The Prime Minister once again said, increase the production to maintain the trend of development of the country that we have created. And in the areas where dengue outbreak has been observed, keep the houses and surroundings clean and go to sleep with mosquito nets.
