Neymar’s tax evasion case withdrawn

Brazilian star Neymar Jr. was charged with tax evasion, embezzlement and corruption in a Spanish court. All charges against the 30-year-old PSG star and eight others were dropped on Friday. News-BBC
Neymar came to Barcelona from Brazilian club Santos in 2013. At the time, Barcelona were accused of understating the contract and tax evasion. Neymar, his father and Barca’s then-president are expected to be sentenced to two years in prison if the allegations are proven. A fine of 10 million euros was also demanded.
On October 16, PSG star Neymar appeared in the Spanish court. He told the hearing that he did not know much about the contract. He wanted to join Barca after listening to his heart. Accordingly, the father completed the contract. He only signed the necessary documents.
Neymar came to Camp Nou in 2013 but Barcelona signed him in 2011. Barca said the deal was worth 57.1 million euros. Out of which 40 million euros are reported to have been taken by Neymar’s family and 17 million euros by his club Santos. But Neymar filed a complaint claiming the deal was worth more. Out of which 8.5 million Euros have been evaded.
