In Sonagazi Lipi rape and murder case, one person gets death sentence, the other life sentence

The court judge has given death sentence to one person and life sentence to the other in Sonagazi rape and murder case. At that time, the accused Safiul Azam was sentenced to death and a fine of two lakh taka, in default of which he was sentenced to another two years of rigorous imprisonment. The other accused Rashedul Islam was found guilty under section 30 of the charge of aiding and abetting and sentenced to life imprisonment and 6 months rigorous imprisonment in default and a fine of one lakh taka.

Judge Osman Haider of Feni Women and Child Torture Prevention Tribunal gave the verdict on Wednesday (October 26) afternoon.

According to court sources, on January 4, 2008, accused No. 1′ Azam had a computer shop on the 2nd floor of Farid Super Market in Sonagazi Bazar. Hasina Begum Lippi, a victim of rape and murder, went to the shop to compose a petition to file a complaint against her husband at the police station. In this incident, victim’s father Maqbul Ahmed filed a case in Sonagazi police station (GR 03/2008), SI Amjad Hossain issued a charge sheet against the accused after investigation. 14 witnesses in this case. Among them, witnesses Sohrab Uddin Kapil and Shahadat Hussain gave statements under section 164 of Mina. Murder victim Lipi’s house is in Swarajpur village of Sonagazi. The plaintiff’s father alleged that his daughter Hasina Begum Lippi was raped by the accused against her will after she was strangulated to death by the accused when she went to their computer shop in Sonagazi Bazar to compose a complaint against her husband. ran away Plaintiff Maqbool Ahmed filed a case in Sonagazi Model Police Station on 4/1/2008 accusing two persons.

14 witnesses testified in the case. Government APP Advocate Farid Ahmad Hazari said, he is satisfied with this verdict. Plaintiff got justice. On the other hand, Ed. AKM Faizul Haque Milki, who handled the case on behalf of the 1st defendant, and Advocate Karimul Haque Dulal, the lawyer of the 2nd defendant, expressed their dissatisfaction with the judgment against their clients and said that they will appeal to the high court for justice.
