1 arrested with 72 lakh taka yaba in BGB operation in Ramu
A person has been arrested with 24 thousand pieces of Burmese yaba worth 72 lakh taka in a Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) operation in Ramu, Cox’s Bazar.
The operation was conducted at the Marichya Joint Checkpost under the Ramu Battalion (30 BGB) on Thursday (January 15, 2026) morning.
BGB sources said that based on secret intelligence information, patrolling was intensified at the Marichya Joint Checkpost around 8:30 am.
At that time, a suspicious bus was stopped and searched, and 24 thousand pieces of Burmese yaba were recovered from a passenger’s bag in a specially hidden state. The arrested person is FDMN Md. Shahed (19). He is a resident of Balukhali Rohingya Camp in Ukhia Upazila. The estimated market value of the recovered Yaba is Tk 7.2 million, the BGB said.
Lieutenant Colonel Kazi Mahtab Uddin Ahmed, commander of Ramu Battalion (30 BGB), said that the BGB’s operation to strengthen border security as well as prevent drug and smuggling is continuing.
Legal action is in the process of being taken against the detained person.
