Police arrested a professional drug dealer named Ratan Mia in Tahirpur of Sunamganj. He was arrested from the area near Ghagra Kheyaghat of Jadukata river in the upazila on Wednesday night.

The arrested Ratan is the son of Wahid Mia of Ghagra village of Badaghat union of the upazila. Tahirpur Police Station OC Syed Iftekhar Hossain confirmed this information on Wednesday night.

OC said, SI Md. in charge of Badaghat police investigation center of Tahirpur police station. A patrol team led by Jahangir Hossain, accompanied by officer, Force, conducted an anti-narcotics operation in Jadukata river bank area on Wednesday night. During the operation, when Ratan was arrested along with a shipment of foreign liquor from the area near Ghagra Kheyaghat on the banks of Jadukata river, the other accomplice who was with him managed to escape from the police. At that time, 39 bottles of foreign liquor were seized from the custody of the arrested Ratan. Later in the night, Ratan, a professional drug dealer, was arrested and a case was filed in the police station on the charge of buying and selling foreign liquor, showing another associate as a fugitive accused.
