BGB raid in Ramu, 1 arrested with yaba worth Tk 30 lakh
A suspect has been arrested with 10 thousand pieces of Burmese yaba worth Tk 30 lakh in a raid by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB)’s Ramu Battalion (30 BGB).
The raid was conducted at the Marichya Joint Check Post under the Ramu Sector of Cox’s Bazar Region on Monday (December 15).
Based on secret intelligence information, patrolling and check post activities were intensified under the guidance of Ramu Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Kazi Mahtab Uddin Ahmed under the leadership of Assistant Director Md. Kabir Hossain. At that time, a suspicious CNG autorickshaw was stopped and searched.
CNG driver Omar Faruk (18), father-Jalal Uddin, village-Damdamia, post office-Hnila, police station-Teknaf, district-Cox’s Bazar, was initially questioned and denied carrying Yaba.
Later, 10 thousand pieces of Burmese Yaba were recovered from the chassis of the CNG, which was specially hidden, with an estimated market value of Tk 30 lakh.
BGB sources said that Ramu Battalion (30 BGB) has been professionally performing its duties in suppressing drug trafficking, smuggling, illegal infiltration and inter-state border crimes on the southern border of Bangladesh for a long time. The process of taking legal action against the arrested accused is ongoing.
