In Gopalganj-1 Constituency, Selimuzzaman is the most talked about candidate of Paddy
The politics of Gopalganj-1 (Kashiani-Muksudpur) constituency has become lively around the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections.
BNP’s National Executive Committee’s Co-Organizing Secretary Selimuzzaman is currently the most discussed candidate for the paddy field.
He has been able to gain the trust of the BNP central leadership due to his steadfastness even in difficult times and his active participation in organizational activities by standing by the party during difficult times.
He has been dedicated to the party for the past 38 years. In the past, under the direction of the party high command, during the illegal governments of the previous dictator Ershad and the dictator Sheikh Hasina, he did many important works in the movement program to overthrow the illegal government, including increasing commodity prices, realizing various demands, solving social and state problems, establishing demands related to the interests of the people and the right to vote. He has earned the trust of grassroots leaders and activists due to his long political experience. Due to his direct contact with field-level leaders and activists, being by their side in good times and bad times, and being involved in the responsible activities of the BNP party’s propaganda, he was tortured during the police-controlled One Eleven government and because he maintained the party’s image, many are now saying that Selimuzzaman of the difficult times can be a strong candidate for the BNP from Kashiani-Muksudpur.
He completed his studies in political science from Dhaka University while leading all levels of student politics.
He started his political career as the joint convener of the F Rahman Hall Chhatra Dal of Dhaka University.
He then served as the senior joint convener of the university branch, held important positions in the central Chhatra Dal, was a member of the Dhaka University Senate and was the central vice-president of the Jubo Dal.
He is currently the co-organizing secretary of the BNP’s national executive committee and is contesting elections from the Gopalganj-1 constituency (Kashiani-Muksudpur) with the paddy sheaf symbol from the BNP in 2008.
His political career and organizational skills have already caught the attention of the central leadership, according to party sources.
According to political analysts, the three elements of Asa’s experience in leading all levels of student politics, financial capacity and local connections have put Selimuzzaman ahead in the nomination race.
Although several other candidates are also active, the trust of the grassroots and the support of the general public have brought him into the spotlight.
Regarding his political career, Selimuzzaman said, “I was inspired by the ideals of martyred President Ziaur Rahman since my student days and was associated with BNP politics.
I started my political career as the joint convener of Dhaka University’s F Rahman Hall Chhatra Dal.
After that, I was the senior joint convener of the university branch, held important positions in the central Chhatra Dal, a member of the Dhaka University Senate, and the central vice-president of the Jubo Dal.
Currently, I am serving as the co-organizing secretary of the BNP’s national executive committee.
He also said that during the party’s difficult times, I took the initiative to stand by the helpless people on the instructions of Tarique Rahman, which is still ongoing.
I have always believed in transparent, ideological, and people-oriented politics.
Regarding the nomination, he said, “If the party considers me worthy and nominates me, I firmly believe that I will be able to gain the trust of the people and ensure victory with a huge vote.”
He said about his own constituency, the people of Kashiani-Muksudpur have been deprived of development for a long time.
Despite having a heavyweight minister from the Awami League, there has been no visible development in this region.
If BNP comes to power, the touch of development will be extended to every family.
