BGB operation in Ukhia recovers huge amount of Yaba
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has recovered 30,000 pieces of ownerless Yaba during an anti-drug operation in Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar. The value of the recovered drugs is estimated at ninety lakh taka.
On Sunday (October 19), at around 6:30 pm, a special patrol team of Ukhia Battalion (64 BGB) conducted a raid in the Karengaghona area on the border based on a secret tip-off. During the operation, BGB members saw two people entering the border area from Myanmar suspiciously and moved forward. The two men ran away. Later, during a search of the spot, 30,000 Yaba tablets were recovered inside a khaki-colored packet wrapped in a blue shirt and kept in three blue airtight boxes. In this regard, Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Jasim Uddin, commander of the Ukhiya Battalion, said that the drug smugglers fled after sensing the presence of the BGB. However, intelligence surveillance has been further strengthened to identify them and bring them under the law. The recovered yaba was quickly handed over to the Teknaf Model Police Station. He also said that the BGB is always strict not only in border guarding but also in preventing drugs and smuggling. Such operations will continue in the future.
